Until Dawn

I wake up with a smile

To light my whole day up

A new day for a new mile

To walk while the sun’s up

We laugh for a time

Until the sunlight’s gone

And midnight is nigh

Then I sleep till dawn

Time to make the sun go up

Time to watch some clouds

I’m awake when I walk out

Because it’s pouring down

I endure the humdrum

And emit a yawn

And watch as the stars come

Then I sleep till dawn

I feel the warmth from the sun

But I hear a storm brew

I walk out while I’m drugged up

And then I slave anew

We sigh till the last hour

And I laugh when I’m gone

To turn the whole night dour

Then I sleep till dawn

I watch the same sun rise

And lament the lost dawn

I depart with dead eyes

To a half dead world

Here I grit my teeth

Until the bells go off

And I down my feast

Then I sleep till dawn

I’m sick of the tone

Of the sun at dawn

I’m sick of walking alone

Among daylight’s spawn

I hear them all roar

About the high they’re on

So I just hit the floor

Then I sleep till dawn

All I see is sun

As I wake to the glow

I reach for a gun

But all I find is snow

I rise up to my knees

And I paint the walls

I smile when I bleed

Then I sleep till dawn

I wake up with a tear drop

To turn my whole day sour

I scream out and I don’t stop

Until the midnight hour

There’s no need to scream

While the sun is gone

So I prepare to repeat

And I sleep till dawn
